Cherie’s Lecture Circuit Brochure

This picture made me laugh out loud and brought back memories of 70s bands. After returning from their holiday at the Miami mansion of Robin Gibb of Bee Gees fame (there was some confusion as to whether they actually paid for it this time or whether it was yet another freebie), we find out a little bit more about the Blair’s plans for when they’re finally booted out of Ten Downing Street – unfortunately these plans don’t seem to involve obscurity. No, it looks like they’re heading for that gravy train known as the lecture circuit.

Tony Blair is gearing up for life after Downing Street by setting up a charitable foundation in his name to launch himself on the multi-million pound lecture circuit, it was disclosed yesterday.

With only months to go before he steps down as Prime Minister, Mr Blair’s inner circle is said to be developing an organisation similar to the William J Clinton Foundation established by Bill Clinton after he left the White House.

A website, http://www.blairfoundation.org.uk, has already been registered in the name of Martha Green, the New York businesswoman who is thought to have replaced Carole Caplin as Cherie Blair’s great confidante.

Well, it’s hardly a great surprise is it? What is amusing though is the website name, http://www.blairfoundation.org.uk. It’s not vastly different from the totally unrelated www.blairfoundation.com. There’s also Beau Bo D’Or‘s Blair Foundation. I forsee some confusion in the not too distant future. Still, at least it’s not as ridiculous an idea as the Blair School of Government.

*UPDATE*

Guido has some more details.
